I love to love Green Bags!  These cool grocery bags are all over the place now.  Lots of companies are making versions of reusable grocery bags, I happen to own the ones made above from greenbag.info.  Here in Kokomo, I bought them for about a buck each at Marsh.  I use them all the time, for groceries and for carrying things to meetings, transporting library books, ect.  They are very durable and help to make a difference for our environment.  Plastic bags are terrible for our planet.  They take hundreds, that’s right hundreds of years to decompose, they contribute to filling up our land fills, and the factories that produce them emit toxic gases through burning.  They also harm animals; 100,000 mammals and turtles are killed by plastic debris each year.  But you can make a change.  Buy these bags for as very small investment.  Take them in when you shop.  Say no thank you to plastic.  It’s a small step, but think if we all did it?

I love the greenbags as well. They are so handy for the pool or the babies stuff and they’re only a buck so you can pass them on to friends and what not. There is only one downside…remembering to actually take it with you to the store.

I agree is is hard to remember to take them in to the store, I try to keep my in the front seat now so I don’t forget, but I have forgotten alot!

I LOVE “green bags” too. I have some from Marsh too, but found that the Meijer bags are far superior. They have compartments to help things stand up and a “tab” that hooks onto the sacking stand. This makes the bag stand up on its own. I think the newer Marsh sacks now have this feature. I think another really good feature is the fact that these sacks hold so much more stuff than a regular plastic sack. That means less trips carrying groceries into the house. I keep the sacks in my trunk. That way, my car stays clutter free. I’ve also become aware of how many times I can go into a store to buy one or two small items and can say “I don’t need a sack, I’m going green.” It’s great because it not only saves me from having a bunch of sacks cluttering up my house, but it also helps make others aware just by making that statement.

I totally agree, I LOVE TO LOVE green sacks too!!

Love mine too. For some reason I can always remember to grab them heading into the grocery store but never when I’m going into target or other stores like that. Hopefully my brain will kick in soon. They are great though. :)

Good on you for raising the subject of plastic bags. I’ve been using green bags for years – I have some really cool pink ones too! I brought mine from South Africa from a supermarket called Pick ‘n Pay. The USA ones are modeled exactly on the South African ones – even down to the green logo. I was very excited when they turned up here in the States!

Once you start using them, you can’t believe that you ever gunked the planet up and killed 100’s of critters with plastic.
